I grew up playing this on my dads computer and it reminds me of a more simpler time and how life used to be. BTW I got this working by extracting it to a folder I made in C and then going into the properties tab of the .exe and selecting 98 compatibility and running as admin. Fixed the screams of the damned.

🎧 Sound Fix
The hell-scream glitch comes from Windows 11’s(or your current operating system) sound system not playing nice with DirectSound from 1998.
Fixes:
Try using Windows 98 mode + run as admin (already set above)
If still broken, install this:
✅ IndieGo DSOAL

I wouldnt bother trying to get it working but if you do heed the warnings in comments and significantly turn down your volume and dont download at night. I managed to get the game running buy downloading the rip version, extracting to my desktop, running HUNTSOFT, and selecting the already created profile in the menu. I only managed to get sound working once but even then the games a mess. Guns dont work properly and alt tabbing or restarting the hunt results in screams of the dammed

I can get the game to run by changing the compatibility settings to Windows 98, I've installed the patches but I can not for the life of me, get the sound going. Can't seem to find any fixes anywhere either.

They made this game into an app, then sold that app version on steam for pc users in 2023. So the win 98 version is the superior version lol

To run the game you nee to click in the .exe with the righ button and activate the compatibility mode and setup to Win98 compatibility then click on apply and the game should run normally, this apply to Carnivores 1 and Ice Age to.

how to get sound to work for the RIP version of the game: after you extract all the files into a new folder open the folder for Carnivores then right-click on the "HUNTSOFT" file then go to properties and the compatibility tab at the top and click the box to run in compatibility mode then set in to run in "Window 98/ Window ME" and it should work with sound. not a promise but it worked for me. hard to hunt dinos with no sound. hope this helps.

Someone needs to pull this from the site and find a legit version to re-upload. The game is patched with terrifying screamers of people being murdered. Disturbing and scared the hell out of me with headphones on. The site is usually reliable, shocked this has stayed up so long given that others in the comments have experienced this as well. Scary stuff.

To get sound, right click on HUNTSOFT.EXE and select properties. Then in compatibility tab select windows 95 or windows 98.

I was able ot download and play the 3rd 68mb option but cannot get audio in either the menu or game. any suggestions? I ve uninstalled and retried. im on windows 10. I have tried the other 2 files (ISO and RIP) and cant get them to work at all. Thanks

Does the Patches work with the full game? I've read the Readme and it mentions only the Demo? If not can someone please upload the full versions 3DFX and D3D patch for these games or those do not exist?
