For people wanting to play this on linux. This game only runs in 32 bit wine prefix. Proton doesn't work.

I have tried getting this to work in multiple systems as well as multiple emulations of Windows. The only time I got it to work somewhat was in a Windows 98SE emulation using Pentium 2 400Mhz with Voodoo 3 3000 graphics. Even then, it ran poorly, but at least it loaded. I used to play this all the time on my home Windows 98SE PC... it's like this game has become self aware and does not want to play anymore.
