Don't Go Alone

DOS - 1989

The one and only RPG from Accolade is a refreshing game set in modern-day haunted house.

Control a party of four intrepid adventurers as they battle over 100 spooks in a muti-level maze. Innovatice touches include making alchemical formulae (the equivalent of spellcasting in this game), which is done with actual periodic table, and a good variety of ghosts.

Overall, an above-average RPG that is not a classic, but does what it does well.

NONAME I came here to read your 2019 comment again. I couldn't remember exactly which game you left it on, so I started searching by year. I was overjoyed to see that you had left another comment in 2024. Like tearing up overjoyed. Keep on keeping on and I will too.

I'm here reading the comments and one is so familiar I'm thinking: "Wow, are you me?!", until I realized, Oh man, that IS me! WTF?
Military, Texas (South Plains College BTW) Sam's Club, Packard Bell 286SX I have to stress that it was the SX model instead of the more advanced and, uh, *powerful DX model which I was too frugal to spend the extra money on which aligns with hunting for cheap games.
I didn't remember typing anything like this in 2019, but why would I though? I stopped to think about where I was in 2019 and that settled it, I was/am the commenter "NONAME".

Weird, thinking about that game again in the middle of the night 5 years latter lead me right back here.

Fan, thank you so much, that means a hell of a lot to me, I won't forget it.

There's not much I could add to the comments here, except for this.
One thing that we all here have in common are the games, and if there's one thing I learned (LMAO yes I said LEARNED :-D) is THIS...
Just like in the games, you play the game as best as you can, do or die, and then you try again until you beat it....
At the end of the day, there's always an ending, and after that, A NEW BEGINNING.
So wherever you're at, remember this.
When you're done playing, just start over, it's never too late to start over :-)

Man! I just turned 40 and I remember having this game when I was a kid. I think elementary school, I can't remember what age. Ironically this game was released on my birthday, and I probably got it when I was 9, when it came out in 1989. I remember my father (who died shortly after that in 1991) going to the store with me to pick out a game for my new computer and this is what I picked (much to his chagrin).
I have a lot of memories playing this game. I never beat it, but man I loved playing it for some reason, had it after my dad passed and always named one of the party members after him...

@NONAME Man... My story is surprisingly similar to yours. I really empathize with you. But I have to tell you, though this is certainly not why people come to this site or read comment here, the ending to my story is a lot more positive than yours for the simple reason that I believe there is a God, Jesus Christ is His Son, and the Bible is the Word of the Lord. I don't want to preach a sermon to you but I just can't help myself, I have to say it. Accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour gave my life a purpose, makes me able to say that I should have been born, and allows me to share this joy with others. So all I want to say is: while you are enjoying the great games on this site, consider that God loves you and would be so happy if you would love Him back. God bless you.

Just wanted to say that I'm a fan of NONAME's writing here. Top notch! I would like to hear more about his life. (or some fiction)

I remember I was living in Texas when I bought this game. I'd gone out to the store to buy a new game and the box for this looked good, plus it was on the deep discount rack which is where I would look. I didn't want to spend too much in case I didn't like the game.

I played it but never made any real "progress" I felt like I was just going around and around through the halls. I just learned from a comment here that there was an actual "finish" to the game.

It's amazing that I found this game here today. I didn't remember the name, only the "feel" of it and the setting. It's more crude than I remember but on a Packard Bell 386 sx bought from Sam's Warehouse, it looked good.

It's sad. I think I was around 23-25yrs and pretty fresh out of the military. I was working at the college computer center which had a Lan with some educational programs, some IBM monochrome PCs and a few old Apple IIe's that I'd actually rescued from a dusty storage closet and figured out how to use. I could just about get a computer to sing. I had potential to be someone. Now I live in an old rooming house which I'm lucky to have, a low emd job that anybody can do amd am looking at the same old games. I may as well not have been born.

I've bought this game original in1992. It's a quite funny game for
beginners. In less than a week you can finish it.
It runs on hardware tested from original IBM PC /XT class with 8088/V20
CPU and CGA graphics up to modern netbooks like ASUS
EEEPC1000P with Windows XP SP3 and DOSBox 0.74.
Only if you want AdLib sound, you've to start an AdLib driver under
DOSBox before you start the game (see original manual page 1).
This version on this side is cracked, therefore you don't need the original "Spirit Finder" for the copy protection. Have fun!
