Driver is a superb driving action game from Reflections Interactive, the team behind Destruction Derby series. You play a police officer who is assigned to go undercover as driver for a crime syndicate. Your job, naturally, is to expose and foil their plans.
The game description and review at MobyGames says it all: "Perform authentic maneuvers like donuts, 180 spin, 360 spin, reverse 180 spin, and more as you cut through alley ways, across sidewalks and parks, smash park benches and and drive over traffic cones. Many different cars to try (most you'll recognize). Will you save the day?
There are so many sub-games to choose from, each has its own unique challenge. In Pursuit you have to tail another car as long as you can; in Trailblazer you have to follow a course knocking over cones to gain time; in Survival you have to survive as long as you can against a whole bunch of homicidal cops; in Carnage you get to see how much damage (in dollars) you can cause in one minute. Each is quite tough in its own way, and damn fun to do. With a whole group of high score tables you also feel a pressing urge to try to better your previous best.
The graphics in this game a pretty good, even at lower resolutions. The cars, both yours and the others are well-drawn and easily recognizable for what they are. None of them a painted stupid colours (as with Midtown 2), so the whole scene has a sense of reality about it. There is also a very well developed replay mode, allowing you to replay a particular incident (or the whole race) in close detail. Choose from a huge variety of camera angles, and create a little movie! There really are some quite spectacular crashes, which can be a lot of fun to replay over and over.
Unlike Midtown [Madness], this game is a constant challenge, and it will take quite a while to get through everything. Occasionally it can get a little frustrating, but it is always worthwhile.
The Bad: The graphics are good, but you'll need a good spec PC to get the most out of it. If I connect my steering wheel, the frame-rate drops a long way, making the game almost unplayable, which is a pity. The cops are complete lunatics. Even one minor infringement, and they will do all they can to destroy you. Doing 56 in a 55 zone? If they see you they will come after you and not quit until your car is wrecked. This can be a little annoying at times. [Furthermore,] the car handling is very loose. This is the style of the game, and attempt to recreate Hollywood style car chases of the 70s, but it can be bloody annoying to drive when you have no grip and super-soft suspension.
The Bottom Line: Brilliant. Lots of fun, great story, great action. Not as much fun to drive as Midtown [Madness], but it beats it in almost every other area. And it's really big. This game will keep you busy for weeks."

Magipack works great on win10 but i cant get it to run at 1080 like it says in the readme. 1600x1200 max. i have 4k monitor.
I've downloaded the repack version and the FMVs are having some strange green artefacts, just on the FMV's though, gameplay is fine.
"Driver" aka "Driver: You Are the Wheelman" is such a great game, had it on my PS1 and sadly i was 8 years old at the time. barley know how to read, have no clue how cars work, and was completely clueless on how to complete the infamous tutorial mission in the parking lot that you are forced to complete on a very short time-limit to actually start the main story mode. it was such dumb idea that the studio behind driver "Reflections Interactive" never did this mistake again for the sequels. Anyway wanted to play it on pc, since it has slight improvements over the ps1 version. so far im enjoying this game much more then I expected, in the MagiPack Repack that I download, not only it comes complete version with no-cd patch, dgvoodoo wrapper for better compatibility and performance but also gives you the option to install the game with or without the infamous tutorial mission. Works great on my semi-retro win 7 build and with X360 controller support it plays even better. I install the full version with the tutorial mission, and truthfully, it was not so bad since I finally figure it out how to beat it many years ago.

Downloaded and install the MagiPack Repack, works good on Windows 10. I did have to play around with the configuration a bit as the sound was coming through my laptop speaker, not my TV (which is connected with and HDMI cable) but I got it working with the 640x480 display. The Magipack also gives you the option is not install the tutorial level, should that have been a barrier for you playing it in the past. I put a ton of hours into this game on my PS1 back in the day, I'm looking forward to really giving this a good play through after the kids are in bed.
Just finished the game, what a great adventure. Some of missions I have been restarting like 20 times before I made it. There are not many challenging games as this one. If you feel good at racing games, you should definitely give it a go!

Oh god, it's this game. I couldn't even beat the tutorial level back in the days and I can't do it now. What a pathetic waste of time. Like, why do they even bothered with that tutorial if nobody can beat it??? What's the freaking point? Just give me a car and let me drive in to this game's world and do my thing. Anyway, I will never play it again EVER! Screw this game.
run it in 95 mode, and run set the system so the Direct x doesnt have a passthough and it runs fine
NEWOLF thank you for this version. Works like a charm on Windows 10. I just had to redefine keyboard bindings in Options to use arrow buttons for acceleration and turning. I cannot play racing games on WASD with my left hand...

Do not install official patch! The game does not work after it, at least for me, also run it with windows 95 compatibility.

Tried installing the game and eventually did but the game doesn't even launch at all even with all of the fixes off of this site and pc wiki.

This game works, make sure you use compatible modes on the setup, config and game exes.
It will also only work with Dgvoodoo.
Amazing how a company that already had this AMAZING game at the time, while GTA was a pixelated top down mess. It's amazing how Driver became basically garbage while GTA is like the top seller on the planet and everybody knows of it and loves it.

For music to genuinely work you need to have your CD mapped in the D:/ drive, otherwise that doesn't work
