Download the https://github.com/narzoul/DDrawCompat/releases
rename the DDRAW.DLL to GDRAW.DLL
Open an hex editor, open the gangsteres.exe, find the string DDRAW.DLL and change the "D" with a "G", save the exe file, profit
ILOVEHANSON - Google that and thank me later.
This fix worked for me to display the text boxes correctly

for those who are having problems with the text boxes, just add a root folder where the game was installed, the files dsound.dll and dsound.ini.
All the comments saying that it doesnt work, are from people too lazy too look for the fix. Its straightforward. Great game
no letters on screen.game very slow and jumpy unplayable
I wonder when we will have the ability to dL pc games to platform systems like Xbox 1 and PS4? I spent many nights playing this game smoking cigars and drinking feeling like a 30s mafia boss as a younger man. This game was a gem to play.
tried everything followed every step downloaded all those programs and nothing works..... big waste of time and energy! save yourselves the time and just buy what ever game you want to play
I'm also not getting the text boxes when I open the game
like the game
Had so much fun playing this back in the day - hope it works...
Descarga perfecta, corre perfecto. pero... no tiene los textos
