Retro Gaming
Bring back the good old days of Arcade Action in this great package from Microsoft. Return of the Arcade is the second instalment in the companies "Retro" series featuring four of the hottest Namco arcade games from the Eighties including the legendary, and still loved, Pac-Man.
Features:
Four games in one * Ability to customise each game * Mouse and Joystick supported. Here is a run down of the four games that are featured:
Digging
The first of the four games is Dig-Dug, a fun little game that sees you the player take control of the character Dig-Dug as he tries to escape from the evil Koopa. The movement is simple, use the cursor keys to move around and the space bar to destroy enemies. The action takes place in a garden and each time you move part of the land disappears to form a sort of tunnel, you must funnel around watching out for falling rocks and fire-breathing dragons until you have finally defeated the nasty Koopa once and for all.
On your Marks......Get Set......GO!!
The second of the four, and one of my favourites is*** Pole Position***, a tricky little racing game that was hugely popular in the mid-eighties. Race your Formula 1 car around the twisting tracks, watching out for hazards such as Pool's of water and barriers. The game is pretty tricky to control but I found that the mouse gives you greater control than the keyboard or joystick.
Galaxian
This game first came out way back in 1979 and is still regarded as one of the most addictive. Like Pac-man it's still an all-time classic probably due to the fact that it's so easy to pick-up-and-play. Like the similar*** Space Invaders ***the aim of the game is to move your ship around and blast away all the aliens, all the time dodging the 'Suicide Ships'that come diving towards you.
Last but not least
The final game is Pac-Man, the wonderfully addictive game that was first seen in 1980, since then it's graced nearly every platform out, and now you can own the original arcade version so you can play to your hearts content.
Overall
Return of the Arcade is a very enjoyable step back to the revolutionary years of video gaming, a time when fancy graphics and sound wasn't the only thing that made a game popular.

Comments and reviews
This version is just a zipped up folder of an already installed copy and the games don't work (at lease not in my DOSBox-X/Win98 install). Presumably there's a missing library or something. I found the floppy disk images elsewhere, ran the Setup and it works fine.
