Mindshadow was the first original game Interplay ever did, and remains today one of the most inventive interactive fiction titles. In the words of designer and Interplay's founder Brian Fargo:
"Based loosely on the old Robert Ludlum novels, it focused on the main character losing his identity and trying to claim it back. It was a very unique game concept at the time and one of the clever aspects was that players would enter THINK NOUN and each time the player entered a word that related to the past, part of your memory came back. You actually won when you reclaimed your whole past."
Another fun feature is the on-line hint function, which you can get by typing HELP CONDOR (even the designers themselves had no idea where this came from). The game was definitely an inspiration on games such as Amnesia and Deja Vu. Mindshadow is definitely a must-have not only because it was the granddaddy of all amnesiac games, but because it is a great game in its own right, although it is a tad too short and solutions to some puzzles are obscure. Two thumbs up!

Sorry, not like the images above, but like the images from Atari ST.
Hi guys, can you tell me where I can find Mindshadow for Mac or pc? Like the images above. I would love to play it again. I tried an emulator but that didn't work so far.
Funny, isn't it? ...how everything looks better on the ST.
My game won't let me take the cash for the airplane ride from the sleeping man. What am I missing?
The very first RPG/ Adventure/Text game I ever played and finished. Truly a great game for its day. Used to play hookey from school with my best bud, go to his house and play on his first gen. Amstrad 464 (he had a modulator to play on his T.V., I had a mono green screen, boo)
I can't believe this game is still available and executable at this day and age. The Mindshadow game along with Demon's Forge was some of my favourite waste of times when I was a kid, and I'm definitely going to download it and have another crack at it! By the way: there is a clever way to "cheat" the HELP CONDOR function to infinite use, but you have to figure that one out yourselves. Happy mindhunting everyone!
An amazing game.
One of my favourite text-adventure ever.
I played it on ZX Spectrum in the 80's. I love the graphics, but of course they'll look dated on a modern computer. Still, at the time they were great.
I did not find it very hard at the time (I finished it).
