How to Play

The game has been tested on Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 10, it works fine. You may experience some small troubles when you play the game on modern systems, check our Notes for details

Notes:

• If the installation doesn't start - try to launch Setup.exe in compatibility mode with old version of Windows (98, 2000 or XP)
• It is recommended to install all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and NET Framework for the correct work of the game. Also it is recommended to install K-Lite Codec Pack for the correct work of in-game videos
• The game works on DirectX 9, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
• The game requires PhysX Legacy Drivers for the correct work! It is recommended to use PhysX Legacy v9.13. If you have any other version of PhysX and has issues in the game - delete your PhysX drivers and install v9.13. If it didn't help - install PhysX drivers from middle folder in the directory with installed game
• German and Russian versions of the game has DRM-protection, use NoDVDs to remove DRM protection and play without the disc. English version on our website should be DRM-Free, but we added NoDVD for it too, just in case
• The game may crash if you played another version of the game earlier and have savegames in Documents folder. If the game is crashing at loading - delete the folder with savegames in Documents/My Games. Also, the game may start to crash if you have too many savegame files, to fix it delete the half of savegames from the folder
• There may also be the other issue related to savegames - if you keep dying all the time and then loading a savegame, the game may start to crash
• If you have black textures or black squares instead of special effects or any other graphical issues - run the game with dgVoodoo 2, it should help. Please note that the German version is censored and has black blood instead of red, it is not a bug
• High framerate may cause errors, like character falling out of the elevators or models clipping through each other. To fix it cap the framerate to 60 FPS or less, use one of framerate limiter utilities. If you play with dgVoodoo 2, you can do it in dgVoodoo.conf, simply open it in Notepad and enter the limit in FPSLimit = line.
• If you have problem with broken sound effects or disappearing sound - first try to change the sound settings. If it didn't work - set sound quality to 24 bit, 48000 Hz or 24 bit, 44100 Hz. Read this guide how to do that
• Czech translation patch works with both English and German versions, check this page for details. Brazilian translation patch showed few adware warnings, probably safe to use
