Played this game as a kid. To avoid lava planet you have to find a certain component for your time travel thing. IIRC it can be in one of several locations

I'm trying to play this game in Basilisk II emulator and can only explore the first area. As soon as I try transporting anytime, I end up on a molten planet and "die" and end up losing the game (have to start over). How do you progress to other time periods?
