Here's an idea.
Anyone who got past the New Game or Load Game part, can y'all upload the saved game so at least we get to play it?
Doesn't matter if we can't create our own characters, they all look the same anyway
:-D

I'm the artist for this game and I can't play it. :(

"VER SET 7 10" is not working; I still cannot start a new game or save my progress. WarWizard crashes.

I'm considering writing a guide or in-depth review to allow people to better access this gem but in the meantime here are some early tips and observations (these tips have very minor spoilers and make the start easier but definitely not easy, ignore if you like surprise, challenge or are just a masochist):

You get four attacks if you select unarmed, its your default attack(you start this game naked) or if holding a weapon click on both left and right hand icons on lower right and then ensure you click on fists to use it. You will see the lines of text above the fist/weapon icon change to attacks "body part" with fists to let you know it changed successfully. It kinda works like monk flurry from DnD 3.5 in that you seem to miss more but can potentially do more damage when you do hit....

The manual doesn't say but you it levels up blunt proficiency when using your fists

The manual is in the game folder

You need to select your sound card each time you boot the game, see my previous comment instructions or you won't be able to start or save your game.

The manual actually recommends you steal your party members stuff in the beginning to get money (lol) even they knew that part of the game was crap....

You can dismiss party members (useful for above tip) by selecting camp default "p" button on the world map or in INNs and by pressing their corresponding party number 2-4 and selecting "abandon" from the camp options.

You can get free members (and thus full starter gear using tips above) to join your party by heading north on the road and entering the woods from your starting point. The village is slightly hidden but its the trees near northern most part you can reach in the forest.

This game seems pretty big and has a lot of hidden stuff so explore.

This game has next to no music so pick your tunes (ton of good rpg tunes on youtube) and play along with dosbox or enjoy a silent soundtrack to your initial frustration and inevitable death.

You can disable random encounters by pressing alt+ 1 but why you would do that while choosing to play an "old school" rpg like this is beyond me....so for the sake of your soul don't. You'll thank me later, likely ...after you stop cursing for the first couple hours or so of gameplay.

shops do not restock though there are couple seemingly infinite items (like spell scrolls)
with limited space this means you can't indefinitely loot and sell your wares cuz the shops run out of "case" space. I'm still early in the game but the only way to make money continuously is to loot and kill enemies, what's worse is battles can be tough even with rats and not all enemies drop gold....especially rats...so enjoy.

You can get attacked at night anywhere even in the Inn.

during play press q to "quick save" the game asks you to quit every time you save so you need to keep saying no...which is annoying...unless you want to quit quickly to reload....

You can only learn spell scrolls you have bought or acquired at an inn

Healing costs money in this game

The first healer in the nearest town can't cure poison :/...don't get poisoned

get "heal 1" spell as early as you can as you can heal then rememorize your spells at an INN for free infinite healing...tho I haven't found the actual scroll yet after hours of gameplay but did wander into a wizard's palace and recruited a free cleric though but... now I'm lost cuz there's no map....

considering all of the above, advancing my character and kicking enemies asses feels totally epic though, worth price of admission...which is free

This game can have a slow tedious start for your first time so can really put people off, but after than it can be hella fun and kinda addictive in how deep the mechanics can go. It reminds me of a cross between Knights of Legend and Disciples of Steel - under appreciated gems. It also has DNA from other rpgs like the Ultima series and SSI games particularly the magic candles series.

If you like deep rpg mechanics you may also like Nahlakh and Bloodstone:An epic dwarven Tale though I haven't played those games yet.

If you prefer well crafted mechanics with an engaging story try Amberstar and its sequel Ambermoon -the latter is on Amiga though but there is a still in development (but fairly fleshed out) fan made windows remake on Moddb.

Before typing any commands in DOSBox, type "VER SET 7 10". Otherwise you won't be able to save your progress or start a new game. After that run the game using WW1.BAT or warwiz1.exe,
