Found no way to drop the extra fuel tanks, it’s bound to the same key as drop bomb. There’s no key command configuration file anywhere in the built-in game version of dosbox, or the actual game folder, nor in game menus.
That’s like half the missions that you will most assuredly become a hole in the ground because you can’t drop that big deadweight.
Or run out of fuel on the way back.
The retail version of the game also doesn't seem to work with rudder/throttle axes. I have setup a bunch of sims on my own in dosbox, and never had one this stubborn and immune to config changes, nothing works (yes I'm altering the config in the PAW folder, not my general dosbox install.) *shrug*
7$ coming back my way soon...
Seven dollar steam version (and probably the other retailers) is trash and runs in name but not in function. It's hidden from the steam app for a reason, you can look at the pretty menus but if you try to play the game 30% of the screen is hidden, forcing you to look at mostly the planes cockpit as if training for instrument flying. Music plays forever after game shutdown, with no trace in the task manager .
i have 1942 the pacific air war GOLD version for windows3.1 ,
Kr0n if you want this game you will have to buy it from steam sorry
I own this game on 3.5" disks but my old Dos Based Computer won't run the game smoothly like the newer games that I played. The Frame rates are choppy which makes it very hard to shoot the other planes properly. There is so much lag on the old Packard Bell 386SX computer with only 4K of ram. The memory card holder broke on one of the memory slots and now I can't add more memory as the memory card won't stay in place so the computer locks up on me. But the game has a second part of the game where you direct the ships and don't fly the planes. This simulator was way ahead of its time. I suspect that one would need a dog emulator in order to play this old dos game on windows 10 computer and I don't know how to do that.
I want the link to this game, I dont care if you go to jail for hosting it, GIMME!
I guess the game isn't abandoned yet, it's still being sold at Retroism and there's no download link here.
Such a shame, I'd love to try it out.
nic game
1942: The Pacific Air War - realistic simulator of the Second world war, examining the conflict between the us and Japan. There are 10 aircraft, and different types of missions for every taste. An interesting feature is the possibility of the strategic game on the map of hostilities.
