For people saying that Max Payne is abandonware: no, it is not.
Seemingly you cannot buy the game in all nations, but you can buy it in Europe, US and Canada. Therefore, it is very much so a game available for purchase, just not purchasable in all nations. Just because you cannot buy it in... let's say Russia or Brazil, doesn't mean it is abandonware, especially when myabandonware is governed by the laws of France, EU member state, where Max Payne is purchasable on Steam.
max payne aint avaible anymore on steam, its abandonware noww
Max Payne not being on steam anymore must be a regional thing i can still buy it lol
o jogo não está mais disponivel para compra na steam

Bought this game and the sequel Max Payne 2: The Fall Of Max Payne on steam a few weeks ago. After trying to get it to work for over an hour, I gave up and sent Steam a refund request for both games, little did I know that after I was done trying to get both games to work, I shut them down. The first one went fine, but little did I know that the when I tried closing Max Payne 2: The Fall Of Max Payne, it didn't close apparently. I didn't notice, but when I got the reply from Steam regarding my request for a refund, it was DENIED!! I couldn't understand, the reason they gave was that I had played the game past the 2 hour limit to get a refund. which doesn't make sense since I NEVER actually PLAYED EITHER game. But according to my pc, it had been running for 47 hours, so because I had bought the games as a PACKAGE, they denied my refund request for BOTH games.
So now I have both games that I can't as of yet, actually PLAY! I was really hoping I'd found another place to get the game, until I saw that the game wasn't available here, and it just tells you to go to Steam. Not happy with Steam atm.
If you're wondering why I bothered to type all that out on a site that ISN'T Steam, it's because this site LINKS to the Steam version, and I wanted folks to be aware that you need to be ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that the Steam version works on your PC, because Steam's refund request system uses a REALLY SHITTY AI, that doesn't understand when you try to explain why you're requesting a refund beyond it's pre-programmed rules. So when I told them that I never actually PLAYED the freaken game, and it's just that it didn't shut down when I tried, the AI basically had a "DERP" moment and refused my request for a refund on BOTH games, even though it was only MP 2 that I had accidentally left running past the 2 hour deadline.
Long story short, MAKE SURE YOU CAN RUN IT BEFORE, BEFORE, BEFORE....YOU BUY THIS GAME ON STEAM!!!
Sorry this is so long, good luck getting the game. Hope you have better luck than I did!
The game is not available in Europe anymore, can you please bring back the downloads ?
This game is abandonware already. Doesn't exist official digital stores that sell it.
Just to confirm - in Mexico it is also not available for purchase. Just MP2 and MP3. I wonder whats the reasoning behind it...
Game is not available on steam in germany, only Max Payne 2&3. Link to rockstar doesnt work(404 site not found)
Still avaible in UK steam store for 2.99 pound
Can't be bought, officially abandoware now, where's download link?
Max Payne is not available on Steam in Germany and also not on the index, therefore probably abandonware.
Unfortunately, there should be a fix to make the game playable since for some odd reason, Windows 10 and above isn't allowing the game to play on Steam without Direct X 8, but even if you install Direct X8 it still doesn't work. Such a bummer
cant buy on steam anymore, at least in my country, so it is abandonware again i guess?
Bummed that I missed out on getting these originally from here, but now's the time to bring them back. They're not available directly from Rockstar, but they are on Steam... for a limited time. Telling from R-star's treatment of the GTA trilogy remakes recently, they are planning to publish a remake of Max Payne 1 soon and will most likely delist the original version from Steam. Since it's already down from their main website, it's best to have Max Payne up in it's original glory. This game is a piece of history, for gameplay and storytelling, and I don't trust whatever R-star is gonna do in regards to remaking it, no matter how much "polish" there might be.
Can Max Payne be uploaded already? They just removed it from Steam, and there's no way to buy them now.
follow this guide if u have a 3rd gen ryzen or later or the game wont work,,,,
Patch so simple I'll put it here like this, although I can't test on a real AMD Ryzen 3rd gen, but tested in different methods the behaviour with other test patches on mine.
The lazy patch mode:
1. Open rlmfc.dll on and hex editor
2. Go to offset 0x269A0
3. Replace the bytes starting from here with "B8 11 00 00 00 90"
- Note, replace, not insert! Whatever hex editor you use, be sure it's in overwrite mode!
This lies to the program, despite detection, it has MMX and TSC present.
If for, some odd reason TSC is not present, replace with "B8 01 00 00 00 90" instead.
It's still fresh this patch, and I'd like feedback if that's sufficient to overcome the issue.
Confirmed! It's working on my win 10 Pro 64bit, OS build (19041.450).
How to do it, how to fix sound issue?
--------------------
Go to https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LLM8gBTQeTUeqKlZBz4k_kWbsNhX7Pxm?usp=sharing and download file called "MaxPayneSoundFixFiles.zip";
Unzip it, copy and replace three files into your Max Payne directory in my case "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Max Payne\"
Enjoy the game!
--------------------
Note
This method works fine on all of the versions of Max Payne - CD, ISO, Steam...etc.
Good luck Playa'
Here's a working solution for windows 10 pro --
1. mount the ISO using daemon tools
2. go to the DVD drive / open the BIN folder and run demo32.exe
3. copy the cracked maxpayne.exe file and overwrite the original one in the install directory
4. set the properties to run as admin and compatibility for windows 98.
It works!! yaaaayyyyyyy
acest joc este incredibil actiune curaj nai ce comenta cat de frumos este
I am not able to open the game even after the extraction of all files
If you are having trouble playing this on Windows 10, follow the directions in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiITjo82iYw
I previously had it working on Windows 7 with the method using a bat file ( "start/affinity 1 MaxPayne.exe" ) but that doesn't seem to work in Windows 10.
Hi,
To install MP1in Windows 10 i had to change the compatibility option (windows 98). Now i can launch the setup but the game crashed (come back to desktop) when he load the the game (about 50% loading). Someone have the same problem ?
Playing Max Payne back then at nights in a quiet room with SoundBlaster on, gave me the thrill. The story, gameplay and the matrix effect made me addicted to Payne.
Not running on my Windows 10 even after setting compatibility to windows 7 and mounting via virtual clone drive !
You're complaining over 1 mb per second for a free game from a website which doesn't earn any money from offering it? Also: That's a little over 10 minutes. Back in the year 2000 it took me 6 to 7 hours to download Counter-Strike 1.0 (90 mb) at a maximum speed of 4 kb/s while blocking the telephone line. So please stop whining.
good game but an insaneley long download
760mb download and im getting 1mb per second
I'm not in the middle of nowhere and I have a great internet connection so, sorry if i'm wrong, but I am pretty sure that it's a problem with the website
Please tell me that we're going to get a rip version as well. I have so much trouble getting the ISO versions running.
