How to Play

Notes:

• The game was developed by German company Soft Enterprises, and original German release was censored - the blood of aliens was grey, the gore effects were deactivated. Other releases of the game, such as Polish release, doesn't have such censorship
• Patch v1.5 for German version showed a lot of false positive warnings on VirusTotal scan, here's the report. All warnings are generic, about unsafe/possibly malicious file, it is safe to use
• The game requires at least 356 MB of free space on hard drive, but but sometimes the installer does not see how much space is available on the hard drive and does not allow you to install the game. In that case run Setup.exe in compatibility mode with old version of Windows (Windows 95, 98, XP, etc.) and as administrator
• The archive with Polish release includes the files for Polish, German and English languages. To change the language - run the game one time so it will create config-files, then open Options.txt and change the language number to 0 for English, 1 for German and 2 for Polish. Please note that the English version of the game still has some untranslated places because English version of the game was cancelled in the last moment; but it is fully playable and can be completed. Check this thread for some details about Polish release
• Do not try to install patch v1.5 on Polish release, or the game will crash. That release is already has the latest version of the game, no patches required. But it is recommended to install Drop-in Fix that should fix the game's major crashes problem
• The game was using CD Audio, which means that you need to have the disc in the drive to hear the music. But you can just use Music Pack, it is the archive with all music tracks extracted from the game and converted to .OGG format; simply put the files in game folder. You can change the volume of the music in winmm.ini file. That pack is using CDAudio Proxy wrapper, if you have any issues - download the latest version of that wrapper
• If you have DirectSound error - install DirectSound fix, it is A2D compatible drivers. If the problem still appears - also remove a3dapi.dll from the game folder. If you have problem with broken sound effects or disappearing sound - set sound quality to 24 bit, 48000 Hz or 24 bit, 44100 Hz. Read this guide how to do that
• You may have troubles with controls because the game is using old DirectInput 7 that have compatibility issues with modern systems. If you have troubles with controls - use dinputto8, simply put dinput8.dll in game folder next to exe-file. With dinputto8 the game will work through DirectInput 8 that has better compatibility with modern systems
• The game supports high and wide screen resolutions up to 4K, however you may have cropped view in-game, menus and HUD. If you doesn't see the HUD elements - set the lower screen resolution in settings. Alternative method - use dgVoodoo and set new resolution through dgVoodoo Control Panel, that way the HUD elements will be visible
• It is recommended to install all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and NET Framework for the correct work of the game. Also it is recommended to install K-Lite Codec Pack for the correct work of in-game videos
• The game works on DirectX 7, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
