International Rally Championship is an excellent sequel to Magnetic Fields/Europess' 1996 Rally Championship, and is the fourth entry in Magnetic Fields' long line of top-notch rally simulations that began in 1993 with Network Q Rac Rally (as an interesting side note, the company's expertise in racing games dated back to early 1990's with best-selling Supercars and Lotus series for Amiga/Atari ST computers).
Instead of being centred around the British round of the World Rally Championship, International Rally Championship, true to its name, lets you compete in 16 global locations, including many that are not part of the actual World Rally Championship - from the deserts of Egypt to the rainforests of Brazil. The number of cars available has been increased to nine, but for some strange reason the first-person behind-the-dashboard perspective is omitted in this version, forcing you to control the car from an outside view.
Similar to previous games, IRC offers a good selection of play modes: arcade, time trial, simulation (i.e. a full rally season in which you drive on each track), championship (i.e. race on various tracks on various levels of difficulty), and finally a custom mode that lets you customize various parameters of the race, from weather conditions to the number of participants. Multiplayer options are available: the IPX network session can support up to eight players, and you can play against a friend in serial mode. The game also includes an easy-to-use track editor that lets you recreate your favortie tracks or create original ones.
International Rally Championship is a solid entry in the excellent but highly underrated line of rally simulations. It is not as well-known as SEGA Rally, but it is both more realistic and more replayable. If you like rally games, this is one game you can't pass up. Highly recommended.

For music, you need ogg-winmmdll (either ayuanx or Jione on Github) in the same directory as the game's exe, then create a folder there just called Music.
I don't have the ISO anymore, but you need to rip off the music tracks from it with IsoBuster or PowerISO. Make sure they're in OGG format and that they go from track02 to track13.
OGG should be enough but if you want to go through the hassle, you can find other variants of winmm if you want to use the music in Wav, MP3, etc.
I’ve created a way to recompile the entire game for modern computers; feel free to test it out. It worked very well for me, though I haven't tested every function yet—multiplayer and modern controller support likely won't work—but it is playable.

Does Have A Cockpit View
Does anyone knows how to make the soundtrack work while playing?
Does the ISO version including any soundtrack at all?
You may not remember my comment from July 2020, but I'll add another flaw - IRC doesn't display pause menu after pressing [esc]. You can download DDrawCompat, but after the application of the dll you'll get disgusting vertical bars on the sides of the screen, making the game MUCH MORE unplayable than I thought! I've been of course looking for the solution, obviously with no success. There's an *.sdb patch @ PCGamingWiki, but doesn't fix the blank pause menu even after doing everything properly.
Clássico, thank´s!!!!

There is another version of this game modified to run on modern OS. Supposedly, it has been modded by someone called "MySoft" but I can't find anything about them or this mod of the game. Someone should check that out, since this version as-is can run sometimes, but it's not as good as it could be.
It works just fine (The ISO version), just install in somewhere else than the default path and select the compatibility for windows 98 on the .exe file.
Thanks! :D
This game requires a UK layout for your keyboard. When you try to install this game, you'll get a default c:\irc directory. When you try to install this somewhere else (by removing the irc letters), you'll get a "#" symbol instead of backslash. The backslash on UK keyboard is squeezed between left shift and "z". So this game is faulty! Add an important note here.
It works with gdvoodoo but sound effects are delayed/stretched for some reason.
