Screamer is a great arcade racer in the style of Namco's Ridge Racer or Sega's Daytona USA - though way better than the PC conversion of the latter one.
From MobyGames' description: "Screamer is a traditional arcade racing game. You can drive lots of different top cars, like a Corvette or a Porsche 911. The game has very different tracks, all well-designed with attention to detail and locale. Additionally, all tracks are available in backwards mode. If you think you're the best of the best, you can take on the Bullet car for the ultimate championship race. The graphics engine was very good for its time, providing extremely fast texture-mapped graphics on a 486."
The game's smooth and very fast graphics -- fully textured -- give a great impression of speed. The controls are just right and the various game modes and nicely varied tracks offer many hours of fun action.
Definitely not to be missed, if you're looking for an arcade-style racer. Italian company Graffiti (now Milestone) surprised quite a few with this one, as their debut title Iron Assaultreally didn't promise a lot. BTW, it's recommended to choose the 320x200 graphics mode in the setup as the high-res mode is far too slow even on very fast computers.

Tips to help prevent game crashes on the tracks Sandrock and Sunbeach Hill:
Sandrock:
Run STARTL instead of STARTH (STARTL: Whole game is low detail)
OR run STARTH and change graphics settings to low
Sunbeach hill:
Run STARTL instead of STARTH (STARTL: Whole game is low detail)
OR run STARTH and change graphics settings to low
Alternatively you can run STARTH and leave graphics on high, but you must drive to the right and stay on the right side of the checkpoints.
Unfortunately SH is still prone to crashing randomly running STARTH with high graphics. I suggest using the other solution.

you can't compare screamer 1 to screamer 2 because screamer 2 is more of a rally style game
Oh btw this is the FRENCH version :(
If you're into screaching around bends in fast paced car racing games where all real life physics go out the window... this game is for you!
if you cant get this game to work, please download a program called Dosbox (just google it).
Let's say your screamer directory is C:/Screamer. Open Dosbox and type: mount c c:/screamer - now type c: - type 'setup' to run the setup prog. Type 'screamer' to run the game. ignore the dashes and quotation marks.
I can't open it using Windows 7, 64bit.
I tried changing compatibility modes, but didn't work.... Any help?
THANK YOU
Aye the BulletCar... "So Ya Wanna Play Dirty" lolz what a mad game. The multiplayer over a bNc with t-cons & terminator plugs for the coax. VooDoo's Banshee, Matrox Dual Heads & Creative 4meg with the HollyWood expansion cards.... Those were the days. :)
Treat Screamer as a beta version. It's not complete, there are too many minor annoyances (e.g. finicky cornering) to make this enjoyable. Screamer 2 was a far more polished game, both in appearance and playability.
Like the game very much
I think this might be one of the first 3d accelerated games. I remember I had a friend who bought a Voodoo card just so he could play this.
Amazing game, i remember the bullet bonus car :D
