As an intended "sequel" to Interplay's classic Wasteland, this game falls short of that classic in numerous ways. However, it is a good, solid RPG on its own: interesting plot (you are mercenaries slowly mutating from the effects of radiation), characters, and sub-quests. The worst thing about this game is the awful play balance: you will die so frequently in the earlier battles that it only takes the most persistent and die-hard gamers to get to the point where your characters are strong enough. Save often!

it is very short game, and to beat it you need farm your experience for 9999999999999999999999 hours. all in this game have killed balance
I had this game when it first come out years ago. I still remember a quote from the back of the box. "Is it this Florida heat, or is it your Uzi is out of ammo."
Or how about, after you install, "Give Imelda a kiss for me."
What you need to know in order to play this game and not have the "learning curve" trouble people are complaining about. You need to up your Dexterity, IQ, and AP ASAP. Your party should be a Vigilante x2, and a Mechanic. Ignore the Medic since buying the medicine skills for the Vigilante character is actually the best route to go. You can buy up to max levels in Medicine, Doctor, and Pharmacy. Though Pharmacy is actually useless compared to Doctor.
If you get Mutated, cure it ASAP. All of the Mutations are useless and never work.
When it comes to the NPCs... Leave Junior alone. There's no reason to take him. Avoid Enrique Ochoa too. He's also useless. Snag Ignatz as soon as possible. You'll need him. Other than Ignatz, the only other worthwhile NPCs to hire are Imelda & Joey Augustie. The Killer Clown is difficult to get until after you eliminate the Howitzers in the clown base, since you'll get annihilated before approaching. Once you CAN get him, you're probably late enough in the game for it not to matter.
Use the weights in the DeSoto gym to raise strength from 12 to 15 for all characters in your party. Any less, and they're too heavy. Any more, and it does nothing.
Your first primary objective is to go to the police department in Miami. Get the quest to annihilate the BM Punks in the building across the street. Go in on time you're supposed to be there so the crate of weapons is there. Speed up time until the next day without moving. Make sure Ignatz has C4 equipped. Make everyone else evade. Ignatz uses C4. Kills the punks. Levels up 2 or 3 times. Put your skill points into his Dexterity and AP. Iggy is now your Lockpicker, and he will effectively become the best NPC in the game.
To continue leveling, routinely pick fights with the Oh Oh Cultists in the temple. Beat them with bare hands over and over to level up brawling and / or blades (if you are using a knife). Once you reach about level 8 or 9 or so for each of your characters, you're now ready to actually begin the game.
Hope this helps somebody at some point.
its rough in the beginning and unless you've got some fortitude you WILL be frustrated. that being said, once you get over the hump, it is a great little adventure game that will entertain for the short while you are playing it (game is short).
i'm glad its still around as i no longer have it on any of my machines, but man does it bring back happy memories.
I had this game when I was like 13yrs old and played on 286 pc lol didnt really understand it properly till about 15 and it was awesome, considering other games I had at the time where California Games and Leisure Suit Larry this one ended up my favourite after Street Rod 1 & 2

Don't think of it as a sequel and you'll still have a good game to play.
