HAZARDS FIX WORKS....I GOT THE ISO FROM ARCHIVE.ORG

I was struggling with the same issue as everyone else with the game not installing. The issue is the DRM which windows 10 will block 100% of the time no matter what you do. To get the game working you need to do the following.

1.Download the game and windows 10 Fix
2. Use win2bin.iso to convert the bin to an ISO
3. Download VMware and set up a window XP virtual machine. All windows XP service packs are available for free on the internet archive
4. Download the pre vista VMware tools and install them
5. Create a shared folder between your guest machine and desktop
6. Install the game on your virtual machine and copy over the game files into the shared folder, I copied the entire Monte Cristo folder from program files so there would be no file path issues
7. Copy the files from your shared folder on your desktop to your program files
8. Copy the crack into the bin folder and copy the shader into the bindatashader folder, these are the files from the Windows 10 fix
9. Finally enjoy

I can't get past the part where the setup.exe asks me to restart. I restart then nothing happens, or i don't restart and nothing happens. Help me please.

Loved this game as a kid. I played countless hours with the demo version. Wonder if this would work on windows 11?

Still works, but I had to do three more steps when following HAZARD's instructions, maybe it'll help.
1. WinBin2Iso didn't let me convert the file at first, it crashed when I chose the source and then the target, for some reason choosing the target first and then the source file worked and then it converted.
2. I got stuck at the Open the ISO file step, it wouldn't open it with windows explorer cause of some error, but I just extracted it and then it worked.
3. I got stuck at the Install the game step, setup didn't run. I tried copying the freshly acquired crack file to the ISO file I just had to convert from the previous step, that worked and set up installed the game.

Thanks for the game, nostalgie'd so hard I cried. Did you know you can build a bridge to that little island in the middle of the tutorial map? Always tried to do that as a kid and couldn't and now it worked ahaha

I tried following Hazard's walkthrough but the converter is saying it's been removed, and all the others I've tried don't seem to work. Has anyone got any other recommendations for converters?
A lot of the free ones won't do a file that large or don't have an option for ISO.
the closest I got was converting to disc image file, downloaded but I get stuck in a loop of installing and restarting. And when I've tried to add the fix files in says there's no room inside the folder as well

How to play on 1920 1080nwidescreen??

!! READ THIS IF YOU NEED HELP TO INSTALL !!

1- Download the game files: After downloading, you'll get a .rar file, inside it you will find a file with the extension .bin

2- Convert the .bin file: Use a tool like WinBin2Iso to convert the .bin file into an .iso file

3- Open the .iso file: Once the conversion is done, right-click the .iso file and choose "Open with Windows Explorer"

4- Install the game: Inside the mounted file, you’ll find the setup and crack files. Run the setup to install the game. Note: You may need to restart your PC to begin the installation process.

5- Patch the game: After installation, download the necessary fix files from this website to patch the game.
5.1 - Open the folder where you installed the game.
5.2 - Drag and drop the medieval_lords.exe from the .rar file into the bin folder of the game.
5.3 - Then, go to this folder: ..\Medieval Lords\BIN\DATA\SHADER and paste the StdMatDX8.fx file into that folder.

Completely fresh reinstall worked, just make sure to not launch the game before adding the fix

I have done everything required, but I get this error:

Press Retry for Debug

Then it crashes to desktop

How to install on windows 10
Mount the ISO image, then open it and find setup.exe, right click on it and set windows xp compatibility for the setup and apply. This fixed the issue of setup asking for a windows restart without the game actually being installed. After that you can apply the patch medieval_lords.exe to bin folder of the game and then in the same folder go to data/shader and paste StdMatDX8.fx in there, this worked for me game starts and plays.

Does anyone have an up to date step by step walkthrough to get this game to work on W11?
