Gorasul: The Legacy of the Dragon

Windows - 2001

How to Play

The latest patch version 1.06 was used for the game. "Medium" was selected as the game focus. The difficulty level is also set to "Medium." "Warrior" was also selected, and "Battle Axe" was chosen as the companion weapon.

Despite the 1.06 patch, the game still contains some bugs. In the main character screen, you should not right-click on unidentified books, magical items, etc., as this may prevent you from returning to the game screen. Accessing the menu with the Esc key fails in some situations. In such cases, you should reposition your character slightly. Generally, you should press the L key to put your character into race mode. Otherwise, your character will move painfully slowly. Frequent saving should become mandatory.

To earn gold, you should collect as many items as possible and sell them to the merchants. Enemies should be attacked individually if possible; you'll be hopelessly lost in a crowd. If you've been in a place and want to leave it again to move on, it can happen that there are no new objectives on the map. This is intentional; you have to talk to certain people in the respective location, which then results in a new objective. Only then is it displayed on the map. So you should talk to as many people as possible to find out a lot of things. It's almost always advantageous to examine all the items and objects in every location your character is in. You'll always find useful items or clues. Later on you have companions who are a valuable help in combat situations. It's important that they are well equipped. What use is a helper who dies at the first enemy hit? So when distributing experience points among your companions, you should pay attention to distributing them wisely. And don't forget the points for your own companion weapon. Between the individual destinations, Roszondas is occasionally ambushed. This is randomly generated and is intended by the programmers. You can never say exactly when the next ambush will occur, but you should always be prepared.

The Tower

Roszondas materializes on the top floor of his tower. He has almost completely lost his memory. He is forced to explore the tower to learn about his past. By killing all the rats and bats, he gains his first experience points. The first undead also appear. Once they are eliminated, all the cupboards and dressers, as well as tables, etc., in the room should be examined. He should read the diary on the table. The book in a dresser also provides some information. On the descent to the second floor, Roszondas experiences that his weapon (the battle axe) speaks to him. On the second floor, he faces some zombies again. Straight ahead, he finds a book and learns something about his dragon abilities. He finds a key on a bookstand. A reference to "Master Jenai" is in a dresser. A scroll with the strange word "HORAKTATZT" is in a cupboard. The magical well in the middle of the room shouldn't interest him yet. Roszondas now goes down to the first floor. Here, he's well advised to kill all the monsters first. In the left coffin, he finds an amulet, which he immediately puts on, as well as a healing potion. He then climbs back up to the second floor and goes to the well. Saves. He examines the well and then throws the scroll with the word Horaktatzt into it. He then performs the incantation. Roszondas should now carefully consider which phrases he uses with the demon. If he uses the right ones, he can gain mana strength, combat power, or a magical weapon, depending on his choice. If his words are wrong, he dies after a short fight. If he has survived everything, he goes to the third floor and, using the key, takes an amulet against poisoning from a cupboard. Roszondas now goes back to the first floor and, starting on the left, at the statues, gives the answers "Night," "Four," "Seal," and "Power." This is how he gets out of the tower. On the map, he now heads south, to Tolip.

Tolip Village

Here, Roszondas's first task is to eliminate all the hellhounds. He should tackle each one individually if possible. Once he's done, the villagers will also dare to leave their houses again. Using a long rope he receives from the tavern owner, he pulls a boy up from the well. This brings in a few silver pieces. Roszondas then explains the story of the missing morning star to the combat instructor and the blacksmith. To do this, he seeks out the blacksmith's apprentice (near the entrance gate) and collects the

TIPS

Jehnai's house, the servant will come. If you pretend to be Roszondas, you'll go into a room with food. You have to eat the chicken and the broccoli. Then Shenai will come. If you pretend to be Gslidor, you should have about 20 healing potions with you. Then you'll duel with a mage, whom you can take with you later as a companion if you want. You can't win anyway, because he has a protective shield. If the 20 potions are gone, you'll lose. But you're not dead. I used up all the potions, then I gained 5264 experience and reached 2 levels. Then you talk to Jenai; you absolutely must accept his help. Then, when you go out, your helper will come. After that, go right. There's a stone that says "out of order." You can't select it. There's another one on the other side. It says: "Password, please." Then you'll come to an island. Hellhounds await you there. After that, you go into the dragon's lair. The dragon gives you the task of clearing a hole in the cave (save immediately). Then you'll receive the Staff of Xar. So go to Veelaas, the Archer. Shop there until he has 7,500 gold, then sell him the Staff of Xar, AND YOU HAVE 7,500 gold.

What the others said here works, BUT it's very keen to hang/freeze while your attributing points when starting a new game, the only thing you can do (afaik) is to just NOT give any points and to advance as fast as you can. It's very trial and error but once you succeed and start in the tower you're in the ok. Loading from saves and playing beyond seems to work without problem

I am using Win 8.1

Anyone else having troubles getting to Alest by ship? My game keeps crashing after the dialogue with the pirates. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I always receive an error message stating the following:

Text: Variable DetachMissionFile already exists.

I used a combination of instructions from FABRULANA and FELIPE: I first copied all game files from each ISO into a single folder. I then applied the Patch v1.06 and the "No CD" for v1.06. As stated by FELIPE, however, it's technically not a NO-CD crack but does allow the game to be run when only Disk 1 is mounted.

I then further followed the instructions from: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Gorasul:_The_Legacy_of_the_Dragon

In particular, I set the gorasul_noov.exe file in Compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3. After noticing that the game was stuttering/slowed in terms of movements (including the speed of character movements), I then downloaded dgVoodoo 2 and followed the instructions on the PC Gaming Wiki page above.

Now the game is operating just fine on Windows 10.

Everything works. I just had issue with installer, but just create directory on hard drive copy all files on each drive in it (all files must reside in same directory). Then install patch and then no cd.
