Big thanks to ICUP321 on archive.org (https://archive.org/details/@icup321) for scanning and preserving the original retail Signature Edition CDs in .bin/.cue format:

I took those .bin/.cue files and converted them to .iso using bchunk 1.2.2-8 on Arch Linux:
- Disc 1 SHA256: 302aebde4b4bbe20bc20abb9118c412faecd08614efce2fa5c59de00f422d5ec
- Disc 2 SHA256: c2a985b042a7bbc2ef6403f07a7bb0b283d16f25d726b6f3885a6fe7d92370e2

All that is required is to:
1. Apply WIFI_Darth_Maul fix for Starforce DRM removal (https://github.com/WIFIDarthMaul/Peter-Jackson-s-King-Kong-Signature-Edition-Fix)
2. Apply ThirteenAG's multifix (https://github.com/ThirteenAG/WidescreenFixesPack/releases/tag/kingkong)
This method is also confirmed working on Arch Linux with GE-Proton10-34 using umu-launcher.
I believe this might be the cleanest/most authentic/nostalgic/malware-free/drm-free/up-to-date/diy version out there for those that are looking for that kind of experience.

Works perfectly. I suggest 1080p (because of subtitles height) instead of 1440p or higher.
Many moons ago, I installed the version with DRM and started a three month-long nightmare. I was unaware of the problem, it also didn't start immediately for me. It was slow and discreet, like a stalker. Just as I needed my PC badly for college-work, windows dies. I reinstall windows but because i'm a stupid teenager, I realise that king Kong is gone so I reinstall the bloody thing! After the next corruption, I am convinced by a friend to get Linux only for that to also become corrupted too! Only, that one was even slower. Every day at least one app would stop working until it was completely braindead. Thankfully, i got sick of Linux and reinstalled windows. I also deleted king Kong by mistake and never reinstalled it. It was literally years later when I found out what starforces was and what it could do. I was under the impression that the problems were completely separate to King Kong's Technical Dong®️
Does anyone else have any other funny or similar stories about starforce?
Are those DRM free versions from here tested properly?
I wouldn't like to reinstall my Windows because of bloody Starforce.

This is one of the most Stupid Shooter, i never have any Games from Ubisoft Developer,
I keep crashing on the first level where Hayes and I have to open the giant gate, (specifically right after Kong screams.) Anyone know how to fix this?

I am unable to progress after the opening cutscene as my character looks up to the sky and my mouse will not let me look around. Would anyone have a solution to fix this problem?

So, this is the first time i comment here on myabandonware as a whole, as for myself i'm greatful that this site exists to the preservation of older games, but i'm really disapointed this time because, the version of this game is not described in this site, is it the gamer's edition or the original signature edition? Does anyone know how to fix the mouse sensitivity, I have it turned up to the max but its takes me several swipes to do a 360, plus looking left and right is faster that up and down, I tired connecting a PlayStation controller but the look joystick is all wrong, left looks up right looks left etc please help
i cannot move the pillar on the first kong level, i have tried changing the refresh rate and resolution but noting, i also have a bit of cramp in my right middle finger from clicking so rapidly so if there is a fix for this it would be amazing if you could?
Unable to change keybinds. Pretty depressing. Wanted to finish some games I never finished as a kid, this was my first one. It crashes on my Xbox, and I'm playing these old games to get away from mouse and keyboard because that input system depresses me and reminds me I have wasted my entire childhood and adulthood on PC gaming. A bit ironic, right?
An absolutely beautiful game for its time, truly amazing. The story is intensely gripping, almost reaching the level of survival horror; the music, environments, character models, and voice acting are all fantastic.
It's unbelievable that this is now abandonware. In this case, it feels like the gamers failed the game. Peter Jackson did an incredible job. My favorite part is playing as Kong, swinging around massive cliffs and fighting dinosaurs. Speaking of which, there are some nice 'cinematic' storytelling moments involving chase scenes.

All textures are invisible, I just see blue squares, it's unplayable, is there a fix?
For anyone having screen tearing make sure to go into Nvidia Control Panel and set V-Sync to on and set a 60fps cap in Rivatuner Statistics; seems to have done the trick for me.
I would also like to add that I'm pretty disappointed that the triggers aren't usable on an Xbox One controller but I guess it's the price I have to pay to enjoy my favourite childhood game.

I currently am unable to get past the Kong level, after you beat the bat and go to move the pillar beam, my kong doesnt move it he just sits there holding it, i spam right click like it said and nothing, i changed the keys around and still no action.
If you want Play KK, you need the Signature Edition on CD and a Working Key.

Nevermind, it seems that solution is for the standard edition of King Kong, not the 5.0 GB gamer edition. It says on PCGamingWiki that you need to try to move in a zig-zag sort of way to get out of the water. Weird that this happens in both versions, yet there are different solutions to the same problem.
Dear Wallhelp: I don't know why people are downvoting your comment because I have the exact same problem lol. Anyway, I think I have found a solutuion. According to the site PCGamingWiki, the solution is to enter in settings (at the game launcher) and select "DirectX 9.0" and 60Hz refresh rate. It seems that game needs to be capped to 60 fps or the physics go wild. Hope this tip helps others as well.
Stuck in the chapter "the wall" I can not pass the first step when we are in the water while Ann is opening the gate. I checked old gameplay on YouTube and I should be able to go through very easily... I uninstalled and installed the game and the bug is still there. Any solution ?

I can't progress on the mission "the wall". Right at the end of the mission there is an invisible wall in the first set of water where Ann opens the gate leading towards the huge wall. Another bug to note is the insanely speedy bats. Not sure what I can do to fix
For everyone having issues with running this game i reccomend you guys to build a retro gaming PC with windows xp.
Stuck on level Skull Islanders. Kong won't move pillar. I mash the buttons, ran game on high and low graphics and nothing works. It basically ruins half the game because I cannot progress.
So running the game at 60fps fixes most issues, making the game run smoothly! Currently the game is crashing on one level where Kong descends from a waterfall, so I will try and run it at 40fps as RODIONRASKOLJNIKOV suggests
I got to the pillar after the Purple Terapusmordax, but no matter how much I mash the right button I cannot move the pillar, and thus can't advance the game. Any help here?
This here is the gamer's edition, it's an xBox port which dont run better than the original edition
the original edition has a drm so it dont work in windows 11 but theres a crack that disables the drm.

Game is great but a fucking mess to get running on modern operating systems. Heard console ports worked ok.
when you get to the end of Skull islanders mission the pillar that is blocking the way of the V-rex it can not be lifted I've deleted my save and restarted the game to fix the problem but no good I'm trying to quit the game without saving after the log and see if that fixes it

with the widescreen fix does anyone know if there is a way to re-enable vsync or at least get rid of the screen tearing? it fixes the game but then adds horrible tearing so. Win-lose.

King Kong Widescreen Fix
On My WinXP Computer, NEC Multisync LCD 1970NX.
The Siguature Edition all Ok. bus the Gamers have stuttering.
Also have, New World Order, Dark Messiah and Civil War a Nation Divided.

The game starts fine, but i keep getting very bad visual glitches right from the main menu. When i started the game pretty much all textures were messed up or invisible, making the game visually unplayable. Fix please, i need it.

Has the file bern changed? I get about 3 of the 5gb then it stalls out ("waiting for network"). Tried a number of times. No problems with any other games on the site.
I just finished the game and I had all the same problems like Iffy and Genji, but there is a simple solution. The game breaks if it runs higher than 60 FPS, so you will have to limit the framerate. I have used a program called RivaTuner Statistics Server. Other solution is using Thirteen AG widescreen fix for King Kong and using that to limit the framerate. In two levels the game even crashes at 60 FPS, so you will have to limit it to 40 FPS just in those two. All this info is available on PC Gaming Wiki page for King Kong Gamer's Edition.
I can't even get past ONE set of stairs on "The Wall"
I am getting bad artifacts every time I get hit by an enemy.
It plays like hot garbage. Without a jump key I cannot proceed past The Wall level.
You guys should really specify in the title that this is the drm free edition of the game given how horrible the Starforce drm in the original version is.

Gamer's Edition is a port of the Xbox 360 version which had higher quality textures, pixel-shader 3.0 support and some other improvements compared to the regular version released earlier on PC, PS2 and GameCube. The regular version was never properly cracked, so it can not be played on modern Windows, while Gamer's Edition was released DRM free and still works.
